February applications for CAs (Certificate of Appropriateness):
- 4104 Junius St – revisions to exterior elevations previously approved
- 4638 Junius St – wood deck and ADA ramp on rear façade of structure
- 4715 Swiss Ave – demolition of non-contributing accessory structure built in the 1950’s
- 4715 Swiss Ave – new 1,199 sq. ft. accessory building/garage, remove asphalt driveway and replace with brushed-finish concrete driveway
- 4830 Swiss Ave – new 8 ft. wrought iron gate and fence, 70% open, at interior side yard
What do twelve strikes, an SAT of 2400, a grand slam and this month’s task force meeting have in common? They are all representative of perfect scores! All five February CA applications were “approved as submitted”. This is the first time in our task force history that this has happened--trust me, it’s a really big deal!!
No, the task force members haven’t become increasingly mellow or, the antithesis, dulled into an apathetic stupor. The reason for this perfect score is that our property owners have become better educated and more savvy about the criteria for PSAHD. Our residents are presenting informative CA applications with all the necessary details AFTER reading the guidelines for our neighborhood. These property owners are first contacting, Mark Doty, our city planning representative, and then working with and HEEDING his advice. Mark has the experience to know what will appease not only your PSAHD Task Force representatives, but more importantly, what Landmark Commission will most likely accept as appropriate historic design. February’s meeting was a remarkable occurrence and hopefully, as we celebrate our thirteenth year as PSAHD, these “perfect scores” will become simply commonplace in the months to come.
Ahhh, joyful golden daffodils dancing in the wind remind us that March CA applications are due to Mark Doty by Thursday, March 6th, 2008!
