Home Tour 2008 Benefits Buckner Park by JW Brasher
As 2007 came to a close the neighborhoods efforts to redesign and improve Buckner continued to move forward at a slow but steady pace. Michael Helman, Senior Parks Planner for the Parks and Recreation Department attended the associations Christmas Party in December and unveiled the new master plan for the Park. The design is the result of many meetings and much hard work by your neighbors and by the City Parks Department. At this point the Parks Department is proceeding with actions necessary on their end to bring the park plan to reality.
The Association is working toward our 2008 Home Tour, which will be held on April 20th. The profit from this home tour will benefit and be applied to the funds already earmarked for Buckner Park. In order to bring attention to the Park and hopefully generate excitement for our plans, the Home Tour picnic will be held on the grounds of the park. This will allow us to show our sponsors and our guests what their money will be used for. The Parks Department will be in attendance to showcase the new master plan.
As this event is being held for the benefit of the entire neighborhood, we hope every neighbor will bring a blanket and your picnic basket and join in on the fun. There is no cover charge for the celebration at the park. Tickets for the home tour will be available for purchase at the picnic.
Our work on improving Buckner Park can be the catalyst that will spark a wildfire of change. Although we have approved Buckner Park to be our premier project, it is by no means the only project. We need your help! The Board of Directors spends untold hours each month working to improve our neighborhood. If each of you could volunteer just one hour a month we could get so much more done. Please help us to help our neighborhood.
You may email me at president@peaksaddition.org, especially if you want to volunteer!
